About Us

The Household Help Company exists because keeping a home running is real work — and too many people are carrying it alone.

Founded by Stephanie Reasoner, Household Help grew from a simple but powerful idea: that home care is about more than cleaning. It’s about lightening the load, creating calm, and supporting households through full, demanding lives.

We provide care-based home support that goes beyond checklists — from cleaning and organization to everyday household help — completed within the time booked and tailored to your priorities.

When you work with Household Help, you’re not just booking a service. You’re working with someone who understands how much invisible labor it takes to keep a home functioning, and who approaches that work with care, respect, and intention.

Our Origin Story

After moving to Ottawa and becoming a new parent in early 2020, Stephanie experienced firsthand what it felt like to navigate motherhood, home care, and daily life without the support systems many people rely on.

During that time, she often thought:

I wish I could hire my village.

Years later, after returning to school and supporting herself and her daughter, Stephanie returned to cleaning homes and discovered something unexpected: the work felt meaningful.

Not because homes became cleaner.

Because people became lighter.

The Household Help Company was built from that realization: that home care isn't just about tasks. It's about support. It's about reducing overwhelm. It's about helping people create homes that function again.

Today, we provide thoughtful, reliable support for households navigating busy lives, major transitions, complex homes, recovery periods, disability, parenthood, aging, and everything in between.

What We Believe

Homes do not need to be perfect to deserve support.

You do not need to clean before we arrive, apologize for your home, or wait until things become unbearable.

Cleaning is emotional work, not just physical work.
A functional home changes how people feel. It creates calm, reduces stress, and makes daily life easier.

Support should feel collaborative, never judgmental.
We work with people, not at them. We listen, adapt, and build plans around what matters most to you.

Small changes create enormous relief.
Sometimes the most important outcome isn't a perfectly cleaned home — it's an empty sink, a usable bathroom, or finally sitting on the couch again.

People deserve help before they reach a breaking point.
You don't need a crisis to deserve support. Sometimes life is simply full, and that's enough.

Home care is care.
Keeping a household running is real work. We believe the people doing that work deserve support, too.
